The summer has marked the triumphant return of many colours from cobalt blue, radiant yellow and blush pink to fresh green, funky orange and lighter hues such as beige or even shimmering gold. The thing about these colour trends for 2020, is that they’re kind of all over the colour wheel, and it’s totally in line with the fact that we’re in an anything – goes era.
FASHION
If you’re looking to add a subtle pop of colour to your wardrobe without going overboard, consider a cool and refreshing sage green, 2020’s new neutral. This is definitely one of the most unexpected yet dominant shades and it looks amazing with pretty much any colour.
I’m not usually a fan of green, but this shade had me from the get-go, and I’ve found myself searching for everything and anything I think I can incorporate into my wardrobe.
Sage is almost as versatile as any other neutral, pairing well with everything from white and navy, to yellow and pink. And because it’s not as loud as some tones, it’s a lot easier to slip into your wardrobe.
You can expect to see me wearing this hue a lot over the next few months. I’ve done my research into what’s available on the high street now, I thought I would share some of my favourite pieces with you. Happy Shopping!
BEAUTY
Surprisingly I only learnt about sage and its various benefits a few years ago when I came across the Ralph Lauren Sage Collection in Harrods. It has become part of my daily beauty routine and I have never looked back.
Sage belongs to the mint family, alongside other herbs like oregano, rosemary, basil and thyme.
The herb has a strong aroma and earthy flavor that reminds me of a walk in the forest. It stimulates cell renewal and increases blood circulation and therefore can improve the skin‘s appearance! The herb is rich in calcium
and vitamin A, which are needed for daily cell regeneration. This renewal process helps minimise and delay the onset of facial wrinkles.
MAKE UP
For most of us, a slick of black eyeliner or a quick smoky eye is a fail-proof look. But more and more influencers are bringing smoky sage green into the spotlight. It’s definitely worth a try!
PERFUMES
Since we are on the subject of sage you should try one of my favourite perfumes – the Ralph Lauren Collection Sage (on sale now!). It was made especially for Harrods and this is where I discovered it.
Ralph Lauren Collection Sage possesses a rare balance of green, aromatic and chocolate notes. The blend of herbaceous sage, fruity green fig accord and earthy – ambery fir balsam is inspired by the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains. I can’t get enough of the earthy tones of this perfume, it’s truly unique and rare and it makes you feel like you have just walked into a forest.
HOME
Shades of green have had a resurgence recently also in the interiors world. There’s a softer green on the scene, which is easy to live with and just as easy to use – calming and refreshing sage. There’s something nostalgic about pale greens and it’s a soothing antidote to the turmoil we’re experiencing.
These beautiful pale tones are popping up everywhere, in architecture, interiors and homeware. I love this colour because it’s strong yet unimposing and it complements most other colours very well.
