Winter in London… it feels like a fleeting moment. One minute it’s pleasantly warm, the next it’s incredibly cold and chilly. I’m hanging on to every minute of warmer days.
Sparkly clothes can look just as good during the day as they do at night.
Guys brace yourselves, whether you like sparkles or not, you’re about to start seeing dazzling fabrics all over your timeline. Bedazzled glamour is now starting to pop up in the daytime street-style looks. The Spring 2018 shows were nothing like a blast of glitzy glamour and more and more fashion girls (including myself) are giving their casual designs a glitzy makeover that actually looks amazing even when the sun is out.
These are my 5 favourite ways to wear sparkly things during the day.
1. Lurex tops
Choose ones that are a little bit fitted — they will stretch and contract as you move, making them shimmer. You can wear a lurex top with anything, but they look especially good worn over a pair of fitted pants or a mini skirt. You also can’t go wrong pairing a dressy blouse with relaxed jeans.
2. Sparkle collars
It’s almost like wearing an oversized necklace that adds a glitzy edge to any outfit. Sparkle collars are great for drawing attention up, towards your face. Stay away from any jewellery like earrings or necklaces since they could compete with the collar and busy up your look.
3. Glitter ballerinas
Strappy, high heeled, glitter sandals are great on a night out with your friends, but they can look a little walk-of-shamey during the day. Try glittery ballerina shoes and wear them either with classic all black office attire or a super casual outfit like jeans and a cool fashion sweatshirt.
4. Sparkly accents
Use sparkly accents to help direct the eye to where you want it to go. A shiny, beaded belt is great for emphasizing your curves and is a guaranteed attitude-booster. How about adding a funky pair of sandals with an embellished heel that will draw attention towards your legs? right?
5. Shiny print
It’s a great way to wear sparkle without the added weight of embellishments.
The key is choosing a really cool graphic with clean lines that all sparkle, not just a little sparkle accents on a larger graphic. Pair your top with skinny jeans and a great pair of over the knee boots.
Lurex has always been my favourite sparkle fabric. It has been a shimmering staple fabric for the runway, film, and the street for more than 60 years.
Sequins are all well and good, but now it’s time to really shimmer in glittering Lurex.
Shades of chocolate and black lurex hues today with a faux fur throw, black skinny jeans, puff sleeve lurex jumper and over-the-knee lurex boots (only £20 now!). Autumn, winter, spring… there’s always a time for over-the-knee boot pairings.
I love lurex and its beautiful sparkle whether it’s a top, a dress, a skirt or a pair of boots. I guess it’s a magpie talking now…
When I first saw these boots, I had reservations about their versatility, but then not every single pair of shoes/boots needs to be versatile and fit into every possible life scenario.
I ordinarily wear these boots only when I go out however these can be paired in so many ways, over jeans for a semi- causal look, with tights and a skirt for a night out with girls, with structured dresses for a date night, and more.
When it comes to boots, I love taking them with me everywhere. These particular Asia Block Heel Over the Knee Boots Bronze Lurex from Very are incredibly compact (I roll the top down and tuck it in) and voila!
Unlike a lot of over the knee boots, these are made of a super soft material and are skin tight. Plus, the low block heel makes them super comfortable.
Let’s not forget the ability to add that perfect touch of drama to transform the simplest of looks into a statement-making outfit!
