Pearls, officially the world’s oldest gem, have been worn as jewellery for centuries. They don’t necessarily have the sparkle of diamonds but they are undeniably precious. The rarity of the (natural) pearl, formed as an oyster’s reaction to an irritant, has made it an object of wonder and value since ancient times.
The traditional view of pearls as old-fashioned jewellery is changing thanks to the influence of celebrities like Katy Perry, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley who pair their pearls with sophisticated attire to create a modern, classic look.
Designers are going all crazy about pearls this season playing with their size and shape and also their location. Why not in the heel of a shoe? On a handbag? Or in a woman’s hair?
I have always loved pearls and a lot of my jewellery including brooches is covered in them. I can’t seem to get enough of pearls this season with so many varieties available in every shop. Think, shoes, bags, hats, jumpers, coats, dresses and even hair jewellery.
This look is all about denim and pearls and who would have thought that casual denim and classic pearls would be so compelling together and yet they work. My jeans are sold out now but you can get similar here.
The jeans I’m wearing in today’s post are probably my favourite denim of all time. I absolutely love the fit and the pearl detailing throughout. I paired it with KG by Kurt Geiger Bow Pearl Detail Court Shoes (on Sale now!), ALDO Pearl Detail Mini Cross Body Bag (sold out), Ralph Lauren Cable-Knit Crewneck Sweater and a pearl detail jacket from Zara, similar here.
I love how this jacket, similar here, brought a little something special to the look without sacrificing my comfort created by this Ralph Lauren jumper.
It’s both a great casual and stylish look which would work just as well with a cute pair of flats as it does with heels for a night out! It’s super chic, which is the perfect combination to transition into the early spring!
