Since our anniversary is approaching fast I thought it would be nice to revisit our big day and share some of the precious memories and tips from our wedding. I find it hard to believe but it has been two years since I became a wife, time most definitely flies when you are having fun!
In the run up to the Wedding day a lot of people warned us how quickly the day goes by and how many parts of it will inevitably get lost in a giddy haze. I love living in the moment and after all the effort that we had put towards the wedding the last thing I wanted was for everything to become a hazy memory reliant on the photos and video recording.
Something might end up going wrong, it could be little thing, or it could be big, but whatever happens try to think of the big picture. Can you solve this problem easily? Does it make a huge difference in the long run? Are your guests still having fun? Are you having fun? If these questions are easily answered, then don’t sweat it—just keep enjoying your celebration, and feel free to delegate tasks to planners and relatives so you don’t have to deal with drama. All the hard work was done and it was the time to let the ball roll.
Luckily, we didn’t have any issues on the day and we were so pleased with how it all came together. Yes, we had some late cancellations and some people that didn’t bother to turn up that we had paid for but this is just an unavoidable part of the whole experience.
My biggest worry in the whole process was not … the church, the venue or even the purchase of my Pronovias dress (that I literally chose in the first shop I walked into after 2 minutes of browsing a catalogue) but the decorations and colour theme.
SHOP PRONOVIAS DRESSES
I’m most definitely a perfectionist when comes to details and I was so proud seeing the final product and how well this all worked together. The flowers also turned out so beautiful and taking into account that you don’t get to see a thing until the actual day, this can be pretty nerve wracking. Thankfully I totally trusted our amazing florist and all the careful planning that we did beforehand. Sometimes you just have to delegate and trust professionals to deliver accordingly to your specifications as long as those are detailed enough.
Another great decision that helped us not to stress as much on the day was that we decided to do the professional photo shoot a few days after the wedding. It was one of the best decision as photos can be quite stressful and also time consuming.
It was only the two of us having the professional photo shoot and it felt like we were walking around in a little just-married bubble without 100 pairs of eyes on us. We hugged, chatted, laughed and got to appreciate our feelings right there in the moment.

Delegate
No matter how much of a control-freak you are, now is the time you need to delegate!
Whether it’s rounding-up your guests for wedding photos, looking after your handbag or helping with all the wedding games put someone else in control as this will help you to relax, as much as you can, on the day.
Bring your kit
Yes, you will have gorgeous make up on and beautifully styled hair, however be prepared for the worst! After all there will be a fair amount of walking and dancing involved. Good planning will save you unnecessary stress and running around asking for help. Make sure you’ve packed all of your top-up beauty essentials and emergency items in a handbag that can easily be handed-over to one of the wedding party.
Lip gloss, pack of tissues, brush, hairspray, perfume, but also a few things for the ‘just in case’. For example, emergency cash, baby wipes (if you get anything on your dress), hair pins and a sewing kit.
Enjoy the things you’ve paid for and take time for yourselves
If you can (and yes you CAN, it’s your wedding after all), remember to take time to enjoy the wedding you’ve spent all of those weeks, months and even years planning. Dance, drink, eat and be merry. Relax, breathe and take it all in. You have worked so incredibly hard to make this the best day of your life, so sit back and revel in what you have accomplished!
Also, always try to remember what your wedding day is really about…two people. With this in mind, try to slow down, sit back and let everything sink in. After all, you’ve just got married!

This might sound like a total no-brainer but you’d be surprised how easy it is to forget to thank everyone who has supported you in the lead up to your Big Day and on the day itself. A little thank you will go a long way and you’ll be sure to make everyone’s day!
Have a moment
It may seem insignificant when you are caught up in the moment but try to find some time for the people that really matter to you. Parents, bridesmaids, your best friends – take a few minutes to have a drink with them, pull up a chair next to them during the wedding, have a chat. They have put a lot of love and effort into making this your special day, so make sure they get some love in return!

These are great tips. It is so important to just relax and enjoy the big day! I also agree that thanking people is very important. We had about 500 guests so we were strolling around the tables and saying thank you to everyone individually for quite some time and I’m afraid that we even missed some people…we should have started earlier!
