It’s no surprise that pastels are back in fashion and they are here to stay for a long time.  Wherever we look we see so many beautiful lemon, mint, pale pink and dusty blue hues. No matter, if you are an edgy girl or classy lady, there are easy ways to make these ethereal light hues work for you.

One of my absolute favourite parts about blogging is that I get to try so many amazing new trends every season. Personally, I find pastels extremely feminine, delicate and delicious and they are so easy to incorporate into my wardrobe.

This candy-colored, pastel palette is so sweet, pretty and feminine, and it makes everything feel a little more summery and fresh.

The Monochrome Pastel

What doesn’t necessarily work for bold colours and it may look a bit OTT, it does for pastels. Pastels look amazing when worn in the same colouring from top to bottom. A whole outfit in a single lovely pastel creates the illusion of an elongated silhouette and it will always look incredibly classy and elegant.

The Mixed Pastels

Throwing two different pastel colours together works incredibly well and creates softer version of a bold look. With bright lipsticks to complement the gentler hues, the look can be incredibly lovely to wear.

Adding pastel accessories

Mixing pastel colours also includes mixing a single coloured outfit with another colour in accessories. My favourite is statement jewellery, pairing a statement necklace with a pastel shirt or dress makes for a lovely way to wear your pastel colours. I love these kind of combos, they look quite intriguing and romantic.

Sugary outer layer

Have you considered wearing a white or black outfit with a pale pink coat to add a touch of summer innocence? The added pastel really does capture one’s attention and give the whole thing a sweet appeal.

Pastel with bolds

This look is bound to attract attention. An exciting mix of gentle yet bold styles. It’s a playful and vibrant combo and it will show off your creativity and uniqueness. Personally, I adore this styling.  It’s fun, whimsical, and happy. Pastel with Denim

This is a safe and checked option. Denim is always an option if you can’t decide between textures, bold elements or matching accessories. Pairing denim with a pastel shirt or even dress under a denim jacket makes for a lovely way to wear your pastel colours.

Pastels and Textures

Textures are trending this SS18, anything from ruffles, lace to sheer peekaboo pieces.  These are bound to appear mixed in with the pastels and look amazing when worn together.

Baby steps

If you are used to wearing darker colours and are a little unsure when it comes to pastels, then you should start by taking baby steps. Add a pop of pastel with a pair of blush pink shoes or a bag to your black or grey clothing, and then see if you like it and want to take the next step toward lighter coloured clothing.

While it is great to follow the latest trends, you should really make sure that your choices are more in tune with your personality. If you are just starting off with adding pastels to your style, baby steps might be necessary to get you into the mindset.
