With the colder weather comes an array of richer, deeper, colours to incorporate into your wardrobe.
I’m always looking for new ways to showcase trending colours from orange & pink, brown & mustard, red & brown to my latest burgundy & white.
A burgundy is luxe for winter or fall and it’s actually flattering for all skin tones. A whole winter white outfit look super chic and elegant too. How about combining these two fashion staples?
Burgundy blends with almost any colour, from neutral tones to shades of bright blue. Whether you’re looking to add in some burgundy accessories or go all out with a monochrome suit, this is the perfect way to add an eye-catching element to your wardrobe. It’s definitely a hue that’s flattering, versatile to mix, and delicious to look at.
From the ribbon of the dress to the divided look of the boots, a complete burgundy and white outfit covering every detail. The bordeaux accessories add depth and help ground the look when the white Ralph Lauren coat brings back cheerful holiday vibes and makes winter days brighter.
Below, are some of my fave styling tips that I am sticking to at the moment.
PLAY WITH PATTERNS & TEXTURES
Patterns make fashion more fun, and whether it’s florals, stripes, plaid, or animal print, these pieces will add an interesting element to your look. This is even more applicable when comes to monochromatic outfits where you want to add visual interest, depth, and dimension.
Try incorporating a subtle touch of a different fabric like suede, sheer, leather or even corduroy to create a chic and edgy look. Even something as simple as adding a pair of suede boots into the mix can work wonders.
DIVIDED COLOUR BLOCK
Colour-blocking has always been an eye-catching and creative way to style an outfit. This season, however, colour-blocking has evolved into a more unexpected divided look that I can’t get enough of.

CREATE MONOCHORMATIC LOOK
Many people think it means exactly the same colour head to toe but it doesn’t have to be. You can mix and match a dark and lighter version of the colour to add some fun to your outfit.
You can also vary textures and sheens of fabrics to bring more life to a one-coloured outfit. This will add visual interest, depth, and dimension to your look so it’s not one-dimensional or boring.
Some texture combinations you can try pairing together are denim and chiffon, leather and cotton, suede and silk, wool and sequins.
ASOS and Karen Millen have some adorable burgundy pieces in their collections, which are the perfect addition to any winter look.
BABY STEPS WITH ACCESSORIES
Love the burgundy trend, but only want a hint of it included in your look?
Accessories are a great way to stay on-trend without revamping your entire wardrobe whether it’s a bag, gloves, a hat, a pair of shoes, or even headbands or hair clips.
Dune, John Lewis, Debenhams and Mulberry have a lovely selection of burgundy accessories.
I’m such a huge fan of burgundy and find that deep crimson reds work very well with my skin tone and my hair colour. And it’s the perfect pick-me-up colour to combat the rainy British weather.
I just love how burgundy gives even warmer and more intense notes when combined with white.
For the evening look I would match burgundy with black to reveal a more refined and elegant soul.
BURGUNDY MAKE UP
Rock burgundy eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner or lipstick, a perfect way to slide into the seasonal ultimate monochromatic look, or wear them separately for a singular statement.
One of the best parts about burgundy is it’s beautiful enough for a holiday party, but also in small quantities wearable for work.
I love the look of pairing coloured eyeliner or mascara with a neutral lip colour.
A rich burgundy lipstick pairs perfectly with fresh skin and your go-to mascara.
The Pillow Talk from Charlotte Tilbury is my favourite make up to pair with burgundy outfits but not only. It looks amazing with anything really.
