The suits are very often worn to make a statement, to emanate an image of power and credibility in the workplace.

As much as I adore suits I’m not a huge fan of trousers in general, I just personally don’t find them that comfortable. My wardrobe is filled with jackets and skirts and a just a few pairs of trousers with a growing layer of dust on them.

The modern power suit does not have to be a traditional one. It can be a pairing of any of your favourite structured blazers with tailored pants or a skirt, or … how about 2 in 1, the tux dress?!

The button side tux dress by Michelle Keegan I’m wearing has a number of great qualities as jumpsuits do (well, with one exception you can’t / shouldn’t sit with your legs spread in them).

1. You don’t have to think much about pairing separates together, tux dresses ultimately only rely on accessories to complete the look

2. Real-time saver. We’ve all experienced those mornings when you can’t decide what to wear!? With a readymade, all-in-one outfit at your disposal you’ll be able to languish in bed a little longer

3. If it fits you properly, a sharp tux dress will make you stand taller and walk with more purpose

4. Tux dresses look far more appropriate in an office environment than a maxi dress, and are literally and figuratively cooler to wear than suits

5. It’s truly amazing what a strong transformative quality tux dresses have! On their own, they’re great for the office. With a pair of stilettos and statement accessories, they’re great to head into the dazzling lights of the night. Throw a hat on and you are ready to impress your in-laws!

6. One over jumpsuits, you don’t have to plan your bathroom routine as much! (you know what I mean 😉)

This dress is a hands-down my favourite at the moment! Aside from my favourite black colour, and my general appreciation of all dresses, I love the slightly oversized padded shoulders and sleek lapels that create a powerful look. Gorgeous fitted skirt with a button detailing and fluted sleeves creates chic, polished and never over the top look .

    Even though I like the look of jumpsuits and how comfortable and cool they are I still have a problem with taking off all of my clothes to go to the bathroom especially in a public place so they are not always practical. I prefer the tuxedo dress because it is easier to deal with it.

    Yes, this is true! A power suit must not necessarily consist of trousers and a blazer – a skirt or dress with the blazer definitely works also very well!
