“There is no sincerer love than the love of food.” George Bernard Shaw
I suspect we all have at least one favourite place that we love going back to, whether this is a holiday destination (Cancun for me), a shop (Mulberry) or a restaurant. Today I’m going to share with you my most favourite place, Plateau, a French-style restaurant in the heart of London’s Canary Wharf. I discovered that place a few years ago and it has conquered my heart with its stylish futuristic deco that offers inspiring views of the surrounding cityscape, very professional team that treat you like you are royalty, and not to mention the exquisite food and wine.
The main feature of Plateau is its huge glass windows which bathe the dining area in natural light and metal façade. The interior aims to impress with iconic contemporary furniture – marble-topped white Eero Saarinen Tulip tables, matching chairs, and Arco floor lamps. With Christmas on the cards, the restaurant has added some nice festive touches. I couldn’t possibly put it into words so I hope the photos do it at least a little bit of justice!
The restaurant offers a la carte and set menus that feature classic French dishes with a light and elegant contemporary touch. For all those wine connoisseurs (guilty!) a highly popular tasting menu with matching wines is also available. I have to admit that I’m still to experience this and it’s on my bucket list for 2018!
From the nicely priced menu a la carte, I enjoyed a dazzlingly fresh starter of heritage lobster bisque, prawn tortellini.
Meat mains saw wonderful honey glazed duck breast, fig and broccolini paired with glazed heritage carrots, buttered new potatoes and mixed leaf salad.
Dark chocolate ganache, cocoa marshmallow, pear with cardamom ice cream proved that it tastes as good as it looks.
For those shying away from the limelight of a formal sat down meal, complementing the elegant main dining -room, the Plateau Bar & Grill offers more informal cooking in a relaxed setting and there are also two lively bars.
If any of you is in search of a special place to celebrate or maybe organise a surprise party Plateau also offers two elegant private dining rooms and an outdoor terrace, which are all available for exclusive use. For larger parties, the restaurant, or the whole of Plateau can be hired.
Just to put a cherry on the cake, Plateau also organises a variety of events in addition to wine tasting. As it’s a truffle season between 01 November 2017 – 01 December 2017 you can enjoy the six course truffle tasting menu!
How about a Rémy Martin tasting experience with each week a unique pairing experience to allow you to explore the varieties and tasting opportunities of the premium cognac (07 November 2017 – 31 January 2018).
Guys so what do you think about Plateau? Yes or No? It’s a huge Yes from and I will most definitely be going back there soon!
