There is nothing worse than having your makeup fade off during the day. With the crazy hot days of summer, traveling, no time to re-touch make up during busy office hours, plus the glory of the gym workout, it’s hard to keep our makeup looking fresh all day long! Admittedly I never have time during the day to stroll to the bathroom and spend 10 minutes correcting any make up flaws hence why I need to maximise that 15 minutes I have in the morning to ensure that my make-up will last me throughout the day.
Below are my 8 easy tips to help your makeup stay on all day!
1. PRIMER – PHOTO FINISH FOUNDATION PRIMER
If you asked me a few years ago about primer I wouldn’t have had a clue what it was supposed to do. I’m one of those girls that like to keep make up to a minimum with a little bit of mineral powder, blusher and mascara. And it’s all great as it takes literally 5 – 10 minutes in my morning routine however this simplified make-up loses it’s fresh look pretty quick.
I purchased my very first Photo Finish primer “accidently” on a flight back from Cancun a few years ago. To be honest when I bought it I didn’t really know what this product actually did but I was bored and fancied a bit of shopping.
Now after years and years of using it I can confidently say that the primer is really a great invention that preps your skin for the perfect foundation application by filling in fine lines and smoothing pores, and it also keeps your makeup looking fresh all day. Aren’t we all in an endless search for those qualities?
Tip: Always apply moisturizer before priming, as it makes your primer application even
2. FACE OIL – Laura Mercier Infusion De Rose Nourishing Oil
Occasionally I add a bit of face oil to my beauty routine and I love the results! It adds extra hydration, blends flawlessly and looks really natural. You can also use an oil alone as a moisturizer to get that healthy glow. I’ve only discovered this rose oil recently and guys, it’s amazing and smells heavenly.
TIP: Add one drop of oil for every 3 drops of foundation and mix together before applying.
3. ICONIC LONDON – concentrated liquid shimmer, illuminator
It’s the must have product everyone is raving about. I HAVE BEEN USING THIS FOR A FEW WEEKS AND GUYS I LOVE IT!!! You can add it to your foundation to create a healthy radiant look or use it on its own for super highlighted glow.
TIP: don’t use both face oil and shimmer as this may undo that flawless look that we all strive for. Remember occasionally less is more.
4. Estee Lauder – Double Wear Light. 15 hour wear (why would you need 24 hour wear – I certainly don’t need to wear make up in bed)
I hardly ever wear foundation but if I ever decide to wear one this is my first choice.
It really does last all day and gives an even natural looking coverage. Because it’s a light version it doesn’t feel like you are wearing a foundation and it leaves skin free to breathe all day.
5. MAC MINERALIZE FOUNDATION/LOOSE
Layering a setting powder over your liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer helps it set and stay in place. I’m super picky with my powders and I have been using this one for years so I can vouch for its quality. It provides medium coverage so you can use it on its own as I do without fluffing with foundations. It blends really well and is light and translucent.
6. Laura Mercier Mineral Illuminating Powder
For those girls like myself who prefer more luminous look as opposite to matt finish this Laura Mercier Mineral Illuminating Powder does the trick. It provides this most wanted healthy glow and it’s a perfect complement to eyes, cheeks or face.
Tip: Use your fluffiest brush to swirl, tap off excess powder, and apply to your cheeks, mid-forehead, nose, and chin.
Louboutin has recently launched (in the UK) their beauty collection including this amazing mascara inspired by Christian’s travels to India, its rich culture and colours that were translated into products luxuriously saturated with rich pigments for the purest and deepest impact.
This mascara is my absolute favorite at the moment however it is a bit pricey hence I use it only for special occasions. It certainly delivers what it promises which is dramatic volume, all-day wear, and is flake-proof and smear-proof.
On the more affordable side, L’Oréal False Lash X Fiber Mascara also does a great job. I’ve been using L’Oréal mascaras for as long as I can remember and I have never been disappointed. This one is a two-step formula, one coat of the primer, then one coat of the fibers.
Tip: Repeat application, pressing fibers into the lashes to added even more volume.
8. MAC PREP + PRIME FIX
Just to finish off my make-up I spray the entire face with MAC prep + primes mix water.
It’s a lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber that gently soothes and refreshes the skin.
